Taking an antique and making it relevant for the most modern of interiors is a slight-of-hand the doyens of design know well. But who would dream of creating a new piece that combines birch—carved with the intricate details that made the Bourbon kings famous for their excess, no less—and a clean bent sheet of acrylic? That would be Toma Clark Haines, who designed the Louis XVI Demilune for our Antiques Diva Collection. The wood with its antique distressed gold finish also serves as a tonal contrast to the clear material running along its top and back.
